I have a new home I am constructing. What kind of boxes do I use to prerun all the wires for the cameras?

These cameras use Ethernet cabling to connect them to the NVR. The cameras are powered by the NVR using the Ethernet cables. All you would need to do is run the Ethernet cables. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

If a camera is destroyed or fails, does it send an alert to the system administrator? Can you view live feed at will via an android mobile device? How many android mobile devices can have access to alerts or viewing?

No, you will not receive an alert if a camera is destroyed. However, you will no longer see that camera in live view. You can have up to 3 simultaneous users access the system remotely. The system is compatible with iOS and Android Smartphones and Tablets. Thank you!

If I need to see the footage remotely, do I need to connect the NVR to my router (via ethernet) or can I just connect it via wifi ?

Remote viewing means that you can view your Night Owl device from the convenience of a Smart Device (Smartphone or Tablet) or Computer (PC or Mac). To remotely view your product, you will need to have your Night Owl device connected to the Internet. If you do not have Internet capability or do not wish to remotely view your system, you can locally view it on a TV or monitor. Most Night Owl devices can be connected to you TV or monitor using an HDMI cable. Keep in mind, most of our products require your TV or monitor to be a minimum of 1080p resolution to function. If I add a 5th camera to the system it will not find it. I have tried the supplied wire and a crimped wire. It will not work on any crimped cat5 or cat6 wire

Can we view the cameras on a monitor without internet access in real time?

Your Night Owl device only needs to be connected to a modem/router if you wish to view it remotely on a PC/MAC or a Smart Device. To remotely view your system, you must manually connect an Ethernet cable from your modem/router to the DVR/NVR. If you do not want remote viewing, you can connect the system to a TV or monitor to view live video feed and recordings. Thanks for choosing Night Owl!

Does This system differentiate between animate objects and inanimate objects? And can it be set differentiate between small animal and Humans?

Alerts will only be sent to your Smart Device when motion is detected. So, the system is geared towards animate objects. However, when motion is triggered, the cameras will capture all objects within their field of view. No, the system cannot be set to differentiate between animals and humans. It will simply detect motion events. You can adjust the sensitivity of the cameras to be more sensitive or less sensitive. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

Do the cameras for the Night Owl system IC802-88 have two wires to them? One for the Cat 5 cable and one for the power?

The cameras will connect to the NVR using a single Ethernet cable. However, if you have a camera that needs to be extended further out, it may become necessary to power that camera locally. So, coming out of the camera, you will see an Ethernet port and power port. The power port will only need to be used under those circumstances. Thank you!

My question is can the cameras day or night mode be manually set? My current cameras are autoswitch only therefore constantly run in night mode because the interior is too dark to trigger day made.

I have a vacation home with slow internet connectivity (10 mbs download, 2 mbs upload). How badly will this affect remote live viewing and motion notifications?

This system needs a minimum of 3Mbps dedicated upload and download speed for optimal functionality. If you have other connected devices on your network, then i would not recommend it. If not, then you can probably get by with what you have. But keep in mind, when viewing remotely, you may experience some lag and loading issues due to the speed. Thank you!
